CDEM Plan

The Civil Defence Emergency Management Act 2002 requires each CDEM Group to devise and maintain a Group Plan.  CDEM Groups can then write additional Plans suitable for their particular region.

This Group Plan is the second edition for the Southland CDEM Group; it replaces the first Group Plan adopted in March 2005 and meets the requirements of s48-57 of the CDEM Act. It has been developed in accordance with the Director’s Guideline for CDEM Group Plan Review (DGL 09/09) to assist with achieving national consistency of CDEM Group Plans.

The aim of the Plan is to provide a co-ordinated and integrated approach to the management of significant risks and hazards. This will help ensure the community’s social, economic, cultural and environmental wellbeing as well as safety of people and property. The Plan sets the direction for civil defence and emergency management in the Southland.
